Firsts win at West Herts
The firsts under young new captain Kobe Richmond secured a hard fought victory by 16 runs at West Herts 2nds.
Opener Liam Carter's excellent 66 on league debut put them in strong position with help from Kobe Richmond 20 and Archie Stephens 28 before a collapse to 141 for 6. Dave Roberts 37 with support from the tail came to the rescue to lift them to post 207 for 9.
A disciplined all round bowling performance kept the home team's run rate in check. Even so, West Herts looked favourites the until slow bowling all-rounder Roberts bagged 4 for 23 as they ended on 191 for 9.
Ton-up Winch has 2s storming
The seconds, also a division higher this year, began with an impressive win over Greenwood Park thanks to a brilliant 147 not out from Mark Winchester.
He was supported by a vital 25 from opener James Hobbs and then Akil Nagarajan 23 and Rob Morley 24.
The visitors were always behind in chasing 267 for 8 and ended all out for 200 with new players Abe Gibson 2 for 24 and Saicharal Nandyala 2 for 23 the pick of the bowlers
Ryan's fifer gets 3s flying
Ryan Ellis with 5 for 16 sped the thirds to a thumping 96-run win over St Margaretsbury 3s.
Openers Eddie Mably 45 and Ian Pickering 20 put them in a strong place before wickets tumbled. Miles Baron 17 stemmed the tide before a superb last wicket stand between young tyros Finn Hobbs and Rhys Slack with 27 not out apiece lifted them to 182 for 9. The hosts were then bowled out for 86.
Jug time for skipper with six wickets
The fourths romped to a four wicket win over Hitchin 7ths.
Skipper Ian Murrill 6 for 19 and John Inman 3 for 10 skittled out the visitors for 82 and Leroy Van Der Westhuizen with 38 led them to the win.
